Business Leaders

Local business groups such as the The Fresno Compact, the Fresno Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the Fresno Business Council have begun to engage in dialogue and advocacy around the issues of early care and education.

Children’s Advocacy

The League of Women Voters Fresno has held a position of importance in the work of early care and education since it began the work of organizing Community Conversations on Preschool in 2006.

Preschool California, the leading state organization on increasing access to preschool for the children who need it most, has been instrumental in the work of preschool momentum in Fresno County.

Central California Association for the Education of Young Children has as its mission to promote high quality early care and education through professional development, community involvement, and advocacy opportunities, and hosts the annual Week of the Young Child community activities.

Additionally, Head Start, Central Valley Children’s Services Network, First 5 Fresno County, and Supportive Services, Inc. maintain close ties with the work of the preschool movement in Fresno County.

Civic & Social Groups

The Fresno Center for New Americans ensures their involvement in county decision-making on issues of early care and education by maintaining a role as a member of the Child Care and Development Local Planning Council.

Black Women Organized for Political Action recently made early care and education their top political priority for their education committee.

K-12 Education

Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, Larry L. Powell, has made it a priority to make available resources and expertise from the Early Care and Education Division of the Fresno County Office of Education to all district superintendents. Additionally, many districts have staff engaged in the design of the Master Plan and the task team work.

Law Enforcement

Fight Crime: Invest in Kids California is a bipartisan, nonprofit, anit-crime organization led by more that 300 sheriffs, police chiefs, district attorneys and victims of violence.

Parents

The Parent Services Center at the Fresno County Office of Education has been a key partner in the design of the Master Plan, and in its implementation.

Philanthropy

The David and Lucile Packard Foundation’s Children, Families, and Communities Program has made a tremendous investment in supporting the work in Fresno County to improve quality and increase access to preschool for all 4 year-olds.
